Chinese Fire Cupping
Originating in China, this modality has been practiced throughout Europe and Africa and is one of the most ancient bodywork techniques in recorded history.
Chinese Fire Cupping involves the use of glass cups. A flame is briefly placed inside the cup and then removed before the cup is applied to the body. This process creates a vacuum that stimulates the flow of blood and lymph within the tissues. When pain is present in the body, reduced blood flow can occur in restricted areas, leading to a buildup of toxins and a depletion of oxygen. Cupping helps increase the circulation of fresh, oxygenated blood and lymph to the tissues, aiding in the removal of toxins such as lactic acid.
Additional benefits of cupping include stimulating skin circulation for improved nutrient delivery throughout the body, supporting the elimination of toxins, and providing a sedative effect on pain receptors located in the deeper layers of the tissues.
